Phil, Erica and I spent the morning lazing around in the sun - a rare opportunity for all of us - waiting for the Herts Air Ambulance to land in a buttercup filled field on the Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire, to take some photos to help promote the HAA Trust. Meanwhile the helicopter crew were attending two separate cardiac arrests... which makes our RAAM fundraising all the more important - this service saves lives. If you'd like to donate to the charity, the details can be found on JustGiving/ShuRAAM. Many thanks!
In June 2014, Shusanah Pillinger takes on the infamous 3000 mile non-stop solo Race Across America. If she completes the race within the cut-off of 12 days and 21 hours she will become the first British woman to do so.

Winding down for RAAM
With less than 3 weeks to go until we fly out, Shu is concentrating on speed work. She is riding a TREK concept 7 series time trial bike, kindly loaned to her for the duration of the race by Trek at Milton Keynes.
Meanwhile, Trevor, her Trek Madone 5.2 has just been fitted with new headset bearings and press fit bottom bracket bearings for an ultra smooth ride.
He'll be packed up into BiKND Helium travel case: http://biknd.com/en/ along with some new Shimano Ultegra C24 clincher wheels...a lightweight and reliable combination for the Rockies!

Shopping for RAAM parts
Apart from having to cycle 237 miles a day for 12 consecutive days and 21 hours, Shusanah is putting all the logistics in place for herself and her crew of nine.
It is a massive undertaking.
Due to airplane baggage allowances, some gear will be bought in the States, transported across the continent for the duration of the race, and be left behind in Annapolis.
